Big theft at local gun range

OK local to some of you...I am in Florida this week.

80 weapons stolen from firing range in Powell

Burglars punched a large hole in a wall to steal about 80 firearms from a shooting range and gun-sales shop in Powell late Tuesday or early yesterday.

The burglary at the Powder Room, 3470 Rt. 750, was discovered at 9:15 a.m. yesterday by an employee arriving for work, said Powell city spokesman Jeff Robinson.

The burglary occurred after the shooting range closed at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Robinson said. A large hole was punched through a concrete-block side wall to gain access to a women’s restroom and the rest of the building, he said.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were assisting city police in investigating the crime.

An inventory of the stolen guns is expected to be released today, along with an offer of a reward for information that helps solve the crime, Robinson said.

“It’s important we get these guns off the street and apprehend the person or persons responsible,” he said.
