The Walking Dead...season 2 premier thoughts...

Just got done watching the premier of the 2nd season of The Walking Dead on AMC....my thoughts I jotted down...(caution spoilers!)

  • I am cool with them starting back up without any lapse in the time continuum that other shows have used recently to add to the story line or characters without having actually show it For example, take True Blood...Sookie is in fairy land for a year in real time, hence how Jason becomes a deputy or Sons of Anarchy where they spend 14 months in prison allowing for other changes like the Sheriff taking over without any screen time devoted to plot development.
  • Down side to the time line being immediately continued...characters are still whiney....sorry Andrea, your sister died during A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, stuff happens...tell you what, take that long to assemble a Glock again and you might just join here....come on, just be the eye candy with a gun we expect you to be.
  • Action almost right off the bat!! love that...herd of zombies shambling through...love that...
  • The zeds seem to be more mobile than last year and run more when approaching prey...nice
  • Great special effects and gore....
  • Scene where they go into the church and the zombies are simply sitting in the pews was a bit off putting to me...a slight jab at religion maybe? Zombies patiently sitting for eternity for something.....I dunno, well done though...
  • An entire episode with all those zombies and not one gunshot, wow....
  • Remind me to befriend a red neck tracker and hunter before the dead arise next time that carries a crossbow...very helpful....
  • The survivors should be looking for better cars and such when they come upon them...I understand the trailer is kind of like a rally point for them and all, but it eats gas, is not mobile enough and is a big target.  I would be looking for one of those Mark III conversion vans if that is the way you wanted to roll...
  • The little girl was captured by the people in the other survivor group that they previewed for next week....my opinion...
  • How is there still power for a timer on a church so long after the start of the Z event?  Did power plants and their employees escape the plague of undead?
  • They need to ditch the knives and stuff and invest in some good aluminum bats and maybe some long handled hammers for taking out the dead mano-a-mano.  Cold steel makes a war hammer that would be awesome to came in zombie skulls...
  • Shane...get over it...you were banging the wife of your best friend and left him to die in a hospital...he shows up and made it against the odds....get over it....go bang Andrea...nice consolation prize for you right there...this is the zombie apocalypse...its like a club after closing when they are pushing you out the door, pickings for a mate are slim at that point, take what you can....again, nice runner up trophy....
  • Carl shot?...didn't see that coming....figured a zed would jump out at him, not a bullet...
  • Checking zombie stomach = GROSS!

OK, thats about it...love the first episode of the new season obviously.  Maybe the writers heard our pleas for more action and less dramatics and we are on the right path. Or then again maybe they are just starting on a high note to keep up coming back for more.  We'll see.....
