Still on the road folks so I can't link bids, but watched a clip from CNN on my iPhone this morning where a GOP group from Pima County, AZ is raffling a G23 to raise money for political candidates. Now, gin and hinting clubs have been raffling off guns for politicians as long as the election game has been played, the difference here is that this is the same local that a congresswoman was shot by a loon with a G19 earlier this year.
Well, of course the "antis" in the media jumped on the opportunity to bring light to this with the spin that the GOP was raffling off the same gun used in the shooting....like they expect it to be used in another shooting. Stupid. That Glock did not shoo itself on that fateful day, like any machine it takes an operator to work. I don't know, maybe if they raffled off a hunting rifle or Even an AR it might have gone unnoticed. Unfortunately the organizers under estimated the media,s tendency to pick up on a "evil gun" and focus on it...in this case "Glock" apparently. Glock is a 4 letter word these days. Just like "AK" and "Tec 9" the antis in the media love to villianize inanimate objects in order to advance a politic agenda. I even remember some anti on the news after the shooting spouting a kit this the Glock "didn't even have a safety" (incorrect of course ), as if a loon intent on killing innocents would care about using a safety anyway.
The GOP spokesman in the story points this out correctly bit then goes and says that the G23 being raffled was different than the G19 used in the shooting. True but misleading, basically it's the same gun in a different caliber. Just a word to the wise down that way, don't assume that just because the media will over simplify their story with "evil words" they do know more than they let on. I would expect the media line to skew that comment into a purposeful avoidance of the facts by the GOP at some point.
Got to tell you though, after all is said and done about this story ...... I really miss my Glock G19 right now traveling in one of the anti 2A capitals of the country.
