2nd Amendment to the Constitution of The United States of America
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
"I ask sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people except for a few politicians."

Shot Congresswoman returns to congress to cast debt ceiling vote..
Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D - AZ) make a surprise return to the floor of congress last last night to vote on the controversial debt ceiling bill. Her entrance from a side door on the floor of congress without fanfare cause members on both sides of the isle to erupt with applause at her return after being shot in the head 7 months ago in Arizona at a "Congress on Your Corner" meeting by derained gunman Jared Loughner, who also killed 6 other people in the shooting.
Her presence is being heralded as a "uniting force" in the passing of the bill, although if she had remained absent and abstained from voting the outcome would of been the same. Some have said already that she was being used by the Democratic party to gain sympathy and detract from the issue at hand on the vote, which I find absurd since the bill was introduced by Speaker of the House John Boehner (R - OH) who said on the news that even after some partisan and bi-partisan compromise on it to get it to a vote he still got "98% of what I wanted" from it. At least I hope she wasn't summoned to give a "feel good" ending to this political bickering that has caused our reputation as the "gold standard" for international credit to be tarnished.
Getting back to Representative Giffords, personally I am overjoyed to see her up and about and apparently recuperating so well. She was shot in the head which in many cases is a sure way to be shot and not walk into Congress 7 months later. How did she survive? Divine intervention? Medical technology? Well I am sure some people will just try and use this to show how ineffective the 9mm round (used in the shooting out of G19 with a 33 round magazine) is....for me, I would like to think that maybe being a politician saved her life, for we all know they are some of the most hard headed people on Earth!
More likely than not we will never know what caused her light to stay on when many would of been snuffed out by that same wound. Remember this post I did a while back that talked about chaos theory and the butterfly affect? There are so many micro factors that may have contributed to her surviving we will never know...they angle of the entry may have been just enough to cause the round to miss a major artery...the gunman may have delayed pulling the trigger just long enough for her to move out of a shot alignment that would of been deadly...just so many factors. The important thing is this, almost anyone you would survey would agree that being shot in the head with a 9mm round at the range she was shot at would be fatal. When choosing a round to carry in your defensive firearm don't just say "hey I got ++P++ Super black ninja depleted uranium ballistic hollow point rounds loaded" and assume that they do magic...they don't. Again while repeated observation of a rounds performance may allow us to draw general conclusions as to its effectiveness, you must constantly assess your threat if engaged to determine what the proper response is. A man wounded intent on harming you is often the most dangerous type of man to face.
Again, I wish the Congresswoman the best in her recovery, but am afraid that incident will once again lead to an attack on our 2nd amendment rights and possible a magazine ban in the future.
