2nd Amendment to the Constitution of The United States of America

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

"I ask sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people except for a few politicians."

Why own a gun...according to Cracked.com (mildly NSFW)

OK...before you judge the content before reading it, take a look...

Yeah, some of it is brain fodder on both sides and it does lean a bit more gun control in parts, but overall...not a bad little piece of satire. It even throws some points our way to boot.

Sometimes you have to take a look at your perspective from the other side before you can move ahead with your argument...what did Covey say in that book?...oh yes...

Seek first to understand, then to be understood...

good advice...there is validity from trying to understand your opponents point of view...take this quote from the article describing democrats in general...

Again, they are just mirroring their supporters - the urban and the fearful. The ones from the cities who tend to suffer from gun and gang crime the most. The ones that want to be able to go to the convenience store without getting fucking shot.

OK, that makes sense to me. Hell, I don't want to go tothe convenience store and get shot either. Maybe if we try and look at the anti-gun activists point of view we can try and relate with him, and then he can relate to us and see our point of view. Its worked before. Maybe we can teach them that until their peaceful utopia emerges that maybe being self reliant for your own defense isn't such a wacky thing after all.
