Woman waits 35 minutes for police while man breaks into house..has to fight him off with a vacuum..

"Terrified and Unarmed.."

A reduced police force forces a woman, her daughter and roommate endure a half hour of terror as an intruder methodically tries to gain entrance to her house...she fights him off with a vacuum..THEN the police arrive and arrest him...

Lets take a look at this video for the story first..

..and the full story here (if the video isn't working above its in the new story on the link...the station may be having trouble handling the load for it).

Wow...I could say a couple of words here but they say a picture is worth a thousand of them so here are a few to dwell on in this case...

OK, so I am assuming since this guy knew she was on the phone with 911 that he just didn't care about consequences so the mere appearance of a weapon may not have dissuaded him...maybe a junkie or what not....I bet a belly full of buckshot or a couple of 9mm to the chest might have though had it come to that...a damn site more persuasive than a vacuum. At least the woman lives in Tennessee, a state where gun ownership isn't a necessary taboo...hope she takes this to heart and goes and gets some protection and training to properly use it.

Its not about being paranoid or coping with inadequacies either...its about security. Hell, even my pastor's parsonage was broken into this year by skinhead meth heads looking to score easy money. Luckily she was not home at the time...

In the end I am glad nobody...including the perp..was injured in this case. But just think how horribly wrong this might have ended up like in other instances where people have been killed while on the phone with the police....

(thanks to Oleg Volk for giving me carte blanc to use some of his excellent pro 2A photography and work as I see fit.)
