2nd Amendment to the Constitution of The United States of America

So S&W...how's the kool-aid taste...

...Because obviously you have been drinking the same stuff Taurus has been guzzling...

over at The Firearm Blog they have an article on S&W's new offering.."The Governor" being presented at this years SHOT Show, a .410 shotshell/.45 Long colt revolver along the same lines as Taurus' "The Judge" pistol...

First, "The Judge"....

And now "The Governor".....

Hmmm, maybe now Arnold is out of office he can be a S&W sales personality for his own personalized version called "The Governator"...of course you would never be able to fire that model as ammo is very hard to buy for it in his state now..

Anyway, personally to me these are niche weapons that I find very little use for. As a self defense pistol it is too heavy and large to be really of any real benefit as a CCW choice...yes the shot patterns from birdshot look impressive on a shoot-n-see target but it lacks the serious penetration to stop a determined attacker in some instances. Even the 00 Buck rounds are not ideal when you are talking about having to carry a weapon that large to use them in. Just my personal opinion, if you differ please feel free to let me know. I think maybe walking in the Texas Prairie or Arizona desert with snakes lurking about it would be a good pistol to have to dispatch them...sitting on you hip in downtown Columbus, Ohio as a self defense piece...I think there are better offerings to be had.

These weapons are the nightstand choice for a typical suburban homeowner. With a bird-shot warning shot - just in-case the guys in the black ski masks turn out to some drunk neighbors teenagers pulling a prank. Also a good story in court the next day when explaining the two bodies in the study...killed with the 45LC

well.,generally I don't believe in a warning shot...my warning will be telling the invader I called the cops and to leave or else...any shot from that point forward will be 2 to center mass...still think that there are better choices out there but to each its own...there are obviously many out there that feel contrary to this as sales would indicate..thanks for the feedback!

Better Choices than the Judge? For instance?

better than the Judge for CCW use...lets see

Make, caliber, lenght, weight(oz)

Judge, .410/.45LC, 9.5", 36
Ruger SP101, .357, 7.84, 27
Ruger SR9c, 9mm, 6.55", 24
Glock 36, .45ACP, 6.77, 27(loaded)
XDM 3.8, .40, 7", 27
Sig 239, 9mm/.40, 6.6", 30

there is a lot out there that is more carry friendly than a judge or has better terminal performance than what a .410 offers...

and for those who say its not a carry piece and is a nightstand gun..why settle for a .410...just buy a 12ga or 20ga and be done with it...
